Am I Anti-Development? Who Am I ?
I am not Anti-Development, I am Pro-People. I stand for your right to have “Quality of Life” and not to have anyone else be in charge of it. You have a right to Enjoy Your Real Estate Purchase for as long as you like without worrying about what the county might let your neighbor do to disturb your right to “Quality of Life” and “Quiet Enjoyment”.
Responsible Development and Growth is Different than Over-Development.
Each New Developer seeks approval from the County for their “Piece of the Pie”. The problem is it’s your pie. They move here due to demographics and economical statistics and they are putting up huge housing developments, that quite often are inferior construction.
The county lets them in because they cannot take “Peer Pressure” and the Developers have more money to fight them than the People of the Flathead Valley.
There can be No Justice when the Realtors and The Developer have more money and a Louder Voices than the Peoples lives they are Ruining.
I am not on a Rant Against Realtors, though I do feel that the Association of Realtors OFFERS no protection for your rights in your real estate transaction.
I am not on A Rant Against Development, just on Irresponsible Greed that takes away peoples lives and causes their day to day to be Dusty, Loud, Stressful and Changes what they moved to or live in Montana to Enjoy.
I am a Real Estate Broker Owner. I am no longer a member of the National Association of Realtors nor am I am Member of the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors. I quit because I feel that the real estate industry as is, is NOT in the best interest of the consumer. I feel that “Home Values” are not real. And I do not believe that being a part of the Realtor Club has ANY benefit for the Consumer, Buyers and Sellers of Real Estate.
I watch the Subdivision Meetings on and off all over the Valley and it seems to Me that the Realtor who makes the most noise gets their way. And hey, they have more money to fight than you do. And they know more about what is best for the Flathead Valley, after all it takes a Whole Week of School to be a REALTOR. They certainly must know what’s best.
I read comments about “Poor Property Rights” I am ALL for Property Rights, Private Property rights as some folks out there like to cry about. But I am NOT for Property Rights of Developers and NOT property rights for the people that live next to them or they affect. These people were there first. They paid taxes many years before the developer came. And when the county makes a judgement for the people some folks say, sad – another loss for private landowners rights. WHAT?
Whose Rights Matter More? Not Yours !!
If you do not have a Big Enough Benefit to Give or a Sharp enough attorney and the money to pay them than Your Rights are Swept under The Rug while its time to wine and dine the big guys.
Quite often these Big Developers get huge tax incentives, Quite often the County Lures them in with promise of tax credits. For Example HUD housing and Low Incoming Housing is Big Business in the Tax Credit Department. It makes sense to build in the Flathead Valley even it is a Loss, they kick up the Dust, they make some noise, employ a few locals and the illusion is complete. Meanwhile in some other state they have a Profitable Development and Use You as a Write off.
These are just examples of what can happen. And until the Real Estate Industry is for The People and not for the Few at the Top than most of the time, my guess is the Commissioners hands are tied by Social Pressure, Developers Attorneys and Constant Pressure, after all they just want a peaceful life too. And the Developers, The Attorneys, and the Realtors can Litterally make their life Hell.
The shores of your lakes, your quality of life and your right to quiet enjoyment are Seriously Compromised along the way.
You ARE Collateral Damage.
It is My Opinion that Commissers have a tough time making a stand for what is right when the Realtors in Huge Numbers and Huge Pockbooks and the Developers that are Strong in Lawyers, Money and The Promise of Future tax dollars are running them around CONSTANTLY.
Those who end up buying in these “Controversial Situations” are unsuspecting buyers walking into immediate stress and chaos that is NEVER disclosed. The buyer is seriously an innocent party, yet after years of battling when the Developer Wins, of course, than those who fought to keep their quality of life are left with “New Neighbors”. Don’t you think these “New Neighbors”, innocent buyers that were not disclosed of the stressful situation, will get the Anger, the Animosity, and they will get the judgment and negativity while the developer quietly leaves town with all the money…
So No, I am not Anti-Development, I do have an Opinion on the Association of Realtors and I am just One Person out here who knows what your going through and wants to give you a Platform to Be Heard.
